Statement of Faith

Global Diaspora Christian University is a Christ-centred, Pentecostal institution. The following statement of faith represents our shared beliefs and the foundation upon which our educational mission is built.

1. The Bible

We believe that the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian living. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

2. The Triune God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, co-eternal, and of one essence — one God in three persons. (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16-17)

3. Jesus Christ

We believe in the full deity and perfect humanity of Jesus Christ. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, and divine teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death on the cross, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal, imminent return in power and glory. (John 1:1-14; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Acts 1:9-11)

4. Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through personal faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not attained by human effort or good works but is freely given to all who repent of their sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation includes forgiveness of sins, regeneration, justification, and the gift of eternal life. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 4:12; Titus 3:5)

5. Repentance, New Birth, and Holy Living

We believe that repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ result in the new birth (regeneration) by the Holy Spirit. This new birth transforms the believer, leading to a life of holiness, obedience, and conformity to the character of Christ. We believe that believers are called to live holy lives, separated unto God, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to overcome sin. (John 3:3-7; 2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Peter 1:15-16; Hebrews 12:14)

6. The Holy Spirit

We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Holy Spirit regenerates, indwells, seals, and empowers every believer for godly living and effective service. (John 16:7-11; Romans 8:9-16; Ephesians 1:13-14; Acts 1:8)

7. Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We believe that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a distinct and subsequent experience to salvation, available to every believer. It empowers the believer for witness and service and is accompanied by the manifestation of spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 2:4; Acts 8:14-17; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:1-6; Acts 1:8)

8. Spiritual Gifts

We believe that the Holy Spirit distributes spiritual gifts to every believer for the edification of the Church and the advancement of God's Kingdom. These gifts include wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues, and interpretation of tongues, as well as service gifts such as teaching, leadership, helps, and administration. All gifts are to be exercised in love and in accordance with Scripture. (1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 14:1-40)

9. Prayer, Worship, and Discipleship

We believe that prayer is both a privilege and a responsibility of every believer. We are called to worship God in spirit and in truth, both individually and corporately. We are also called to make disciples of all nations, teaching them to observe all that Christ has commanded. Prayer, worship, and discipleship are essential practices of the Christian life and the mission of the Church. (Matthew 6:9-13; John 4:24; Matthew 28:18-20; Colossians 3:16-17)

10. The Church

We believe in the universal Church, the body of Christ, composed of all believers in Jesus Christ regardless of denomination or tradition. We also affirm the importance of the local church as a community of believers gathered for worship, fellowship, teaching, prayer, and the proclamation of the Gospel. (Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 4:11-16; Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25)

11. The Great Commission

We believe that the Great Commission — to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations — is the mandate of every believer and the mission of the Church. We are called to proclaim the Gospel, equip believers, and engage in works of compassion and justice, demonstrating the love of Christ to a hurting world. (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20)

12. The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the personal, visible, and bodily return of Jesus Christ to earth. He will come to judge the living and the dead, to establish His eternal Kingdom, and to reign in righteousness and peace. We look forward to the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, and the creation of a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness dwells. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15; Revelation 21:1-5; Acts 1:11)
